Kangal Rescue in Germany
In August, a Kangal breeder in Northern Germany was forced to close after running afoul with Veterinary officials. What started out, as a small breeding program quickly became a large puppy mill due largely to the high demand for Kangal dogs by the Turkish population in Germany. When the breeder encountered both personal and economic problems he could no longer supply the most basic care for his dogs. Upon entering the premises it became obvious that the dogs had been without food and water for long periods at a time. Most of the dogs were emaciated and many were ill. It took the cooperation of Animal Health inspectors; Police and numerous volunteers (many traveling as much as 1500 kilometers) to seized more than 120 dogs including 10 –15 bred bitches.
Elisabeth von Buchwaldt and her brave volunteers have taken on the huge responsibility to provide food, shelter and Veterinary assistance for these dogs. All the while looking for potential owners to supply loving homes for these mistreated Kangal Dogs. Unfortunately, a rescue of this size comes with a huge financial burden. To send a donation you can send it straight to Elizabeth via Paypal using her email address ElvBu@aol.com . If you have never used Paypal, it is pretty easy. You just go here:
Paypal.com
Choose “personal account”, and go through the quick registration process. Then, when you are signed up and logged in, click “Send Funds” and type in Elizabeth’s email address as recipient.
Since the dogs need ongoing help, any little bit that you can send is much needed and appreciated by the rescue team. Better yet, if you are or know of anyone interested in adopting one of these dogs please contact Char Luthy and she will help gather the information for Elizabeth.
